Sarah Burns was a shutdown Pitcher for the Belhaven Softball team from 2008-2011 who broke numerous pitching records that still stand today.
Burns ended her career as the Blazers' all-time leader in earned run average (1.71), wins (83), appearances (128), games started (101), complete games (75), shutouts (26), saves (5), innings pitched (713.0), strikeouts (757), batters faced (2,879), and batting average against (.200). Currently, Burns still holds the record for wins, appearances, games started, complete games, shutouts, saves, innings pitched, strikeouts and batters faced in a career.
In addition to her career records, Burns also owns multiple single-season records. Her 36 wins in 2011 ranks 1st while her 30 in 2010 ranks 2nd. Burns holds the top three single-season appearances records with 46 in 2011, 42 in 2008, and 40 in 2010. She also holds the top three in games started and innings pitched. Burns' 16 shutouts and 38 complete games in 2011 remain at the top of those statistical categories.
Burns was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2010 as a junior. The Edmond, Okla. native also earned several national accolades as she was named a Second Team NAIA All-American twice. Burns also earned multiple selections to the NFCA Second Team All-American Team and the NFCA All-East Region Team.
