Hall of Fame
Dr. Roger Parrott is set to be inducted into the Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame this October alongside inductees from the Class of 2022. Dr. Parrott has been the President of Belhaven University since 1995 and has overseen the growth and expansion of Belhaven Athletics for nearly three decades.
Â
During Dr. Parrott's time at the helm of the University, he has led in the creation of seven new intercollegiate sports including the formation of the Belhaven Football program in 1998, who are celebrating their 25th Anniversary this season.
Â
Belhaven has also seen extensive growth and improvements to their athletic facilities in Dr. Parrott's time. The University constructed the latest iteration of the Belhaven Bowl Stadium which is home to the Belhaven Men's and Women's Soccer programs as well as the Belhaven Football program.
Â
Overhauls were made to the Belhaven strength training facility and in recent years Belhaven finished construction and opened the new Track & Field facility.
Â
Dr. Parrott's influence on athletics has extended beyond the field as well with the University adding two athletic-based undergraduate majors (sports medicine and exercise science, sports administration) along with a Masters of Sports Administration graduate degree.
Â
Belhaven has also seen plenty of success under the time of Dr. Parrott across both the NAIA and NCAA Division III levels. The peak of success in his tenure came in 2012 when the Belhaven Men's Soccer team clinched their second national championship in program history and the third national championship across all Belhaven Athletics' programs.
Â
The most recent moment of significance for Belhaven Athletics to occur under the leadership of Dr. Parrott came just this fall as the University partnered with eight other institutions to form a brand-new athletic conference in Division III, the Collegiate Conference of the South.
