Ricky Owens was a star player for the Belhaven Baseball program from 2003-07 where he helped lead the Blazers to some of the program's most successful seasons. Owens was a named a GCAC All-Conference player all four seasons of his Belhaven career while also playing a pivotal role in helping the Blazers to three GCAC Championships.Â
During his time in Jackson, Owens and the Blazers earned a spot in three NAIA National Tournaments thanks to their trio of conference championships.
The mark left on the program by Owens is still measurable today as Owens  ranks as the Blazers' all-time career leader in hits (282), doubles (75), RBI (205) and at-bats (855) while also ranking 2nd all-time in home runs (29). Owens also ranks among the top 10 all-time in runs scored and walks earned.
Following his Belhaven career, Owens played independent league baseball for a couple of seasons before starting his coaching career.
