JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at the 2024 NCAA Division III South Region Meet on Saturday which was hosted by Belhaven's program at Choctaw Trails in Jackson. The Blazers saw two runners compete for the Women with a full team qualifying for the Men.
First year runner
JoAnna Cornette wrapped up her stellar rookie season for the Blazers with the leading finish for the Belhaven Women. Cornette placed 81st overall, a top half finish in the region, with a time of 25:16.64.
Ashley Davidson also had a strong performance on the day, turning in a time of 26:41.96.
For the Men, freshman
Bailey Loomis led the way with a time of 29:26.99 which placed him 116th overall. Teammate
Garrett Masters was just two spots behind Loomis with a time of 29:38.30 and placed 118th overall.
The 2024 campaign was a strong one for the growing Belhaven Cross Country program. The Blazers competed in six meets throughout the fall, three of which were hosted by Belhaven at Choctaw Trails including Saturday's NCAA Regional as well as the 2024 CCS Cross Country Championships.
