ATLANTA - Freshman JoAnna Cornette of the Belhaven Women's Cross Country team was named the Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Week announced on Monday.

The Greensburg, Louisiana native was impressive in her debut for the Green and Gold, finishing with a time of 22:30.5 in the Mississippi College Season Opener over the weekend. Cornette placed 41st overall of 89 total participants in a stout field that featured teams from Division I, II, III, and NAIA. 

Cornette and the Blazers will look to build upon an eighth-place team finish when they return to action on September 21st in the Rhodes Invitational.
