JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Cross Country teams hosted and competed in the 2024 CCS XC Championships on Friday morning at Choctaw Trails. Both teams had strong individual results in the league meet.
For the Belhaven Women,
JoAnna Cornette was once again the Blazers' leading runner. The first-year athlete finished 13th overall in her first conference meet with a time of 25:45.5, a personal best in the 6K race.
Sophomore
Ashley Davidson placed just outside the top half of the race with a time of 27:53.5 while
Myisha Turner was close behind, narrowly missing out on her season-best time as she turned in a result of 30:21.1.
For the Blazers' Men, freshman
Bailey Loomis led the way, placing 26th overall with a personal best time of 29:48.8. Loomis' Friday time beat his previous PR in the 8K by 25 seconds.
Theodore McCarty had a strong showing and was close behind Loomis with a time of 30:43.2 while
Garrett Masters finished one spot behind his teammate McCarty with a time of 30:44.2 on the day.Â
Next up for the Blazers is the 2024 NCAA Divsion III South Regional Meet which Belhaven will also host at Choctaw Trails. The Regional meet is set for November 16th and qualifying Blazers' will be announced soon.
