HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - The Belhaven Women's Cross Country team will compete in the 2026 CCS Championships this Friday at John Hunt Cross Country Park in Huntsville, Alabama. The 6K is set for 8:30 AM.
The Blazers enter the meet third in the CCS pre-championship coaches' poll, behind Covenant and defending champion Asbury. Belhaven is coming off its fastest five-runner 6K total of the season at the Watson Collegiate Classic two weeks ago.
Senior
Ashley Davidson led Belhaven at Watson in 27:10.4.
Courtney Adams followed in 28:02.5, taking more than two minutes off her previous 6K best. Freshman
Virtasia Shepard crossed in 28:08.4, and
Brycelyn Townsend ran 28:41.1. Six Belhaven women set 6K personal bests at the meet.
Townsend, Adams and
Jocelyn Belonga all ran at last year's conference championship, finishing 32nd, 34th and 37th, respectively. Belhaven placed seventh with 152 points. Davidson's career best of 25:57.2 came at Watson last season, though she did not race in the 2025 CCS meet.
Asbury won last year's team title with 32 points, led by individual champion Bailey Gassmann. Gassmann and third-place finisher Emma Groff return for the Eagles, while Covenant returns Aida Okie and Kenzi Stapleton, who placed 10th and 11th a year ago.
The seven-team field includes Agnes Scott, Asbury, Belhaven, Covenant, Huntingdon, LaGrange and Piedmont. The championship returns to John Hunt, where last year's race was held.
