JACKSON - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are headed to Memphis on Saturday to compete in the Rhodes Cross Country Invitational.
The Blazers are coming off a strong showing in their season-opening meet two weekends ago when they saw five athletes post personal best's at the Mississippi College Season Opener in Clinton.
On the Women's side, first-year runner
JoAnna Cornette led the way for the Blazers in her first career run, posting a time of 22:55.30 which put her 41st among 89 competitors. Cornette was named the Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie Runner of the Week following her debut performance.
For the Men, the Blazers were led by
Theodore McCarty who turned in a time of 17:49.90, good for 55th among 134 competitors. That time also landed McCarty the CCS Men's Runner of the Week award.
