ATLANTA, Ga. -Â Belhaven's
Alex Reed and
Kenneth Mills swept this week's Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) field honors, with Reed earning CCS Male Field Athlete of the Week and Mills being named CCS Field Rookie Athlete of the Week.
The duo delivered strong performances across the Belhaven Midweek Open and the Southern Miss Invitational, continuing a strong stretch for the Blazers in the field events.
Reed put together a consistent two-meet showing in the long jump. The junior opened the week with a second-place finish at the Belhaven Midweek Open, posting a mark of 6.86 meters. He followed that with a personal-best jump of 7.01 meters at Southern Miss, again placing second.
His 7.01-meter effort ranks among the top 25 marks in NCAA Division III this season.
Mills continued his strong freshman season in the high jump with another pair of standout performances. He opened the week with a first-place finish at the Belhaven Midweek Open, clearing 1.88 meters. At Southern Miss, Mills followed with one of the top marks of the meet, clearing 1.98 meters to place fifth overall. The mark set a new meet record and continued to highlight his ability to compete against deeper fields.
Reed, Mills and the Blazers head to Rhodes this weekend for the 7-Way Invitational in the last meet of the regular season before the CCS Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this month.
