DALTON, Ga. - The Belhaven Men's Golf team sits in seventh place after the opening two rounds of the CCS Championship, carding a +75 (35-40) at Dalton Golf & Country Club on Monday.
The Blazers opened with a +35 in round one before slipping back to +40 in round two, setting up a final-round push on Tuesday morning.
Round One
Belhaven got off to a steady start in the opening round, led by
John McIntosh and
Levi Turner who shot +1 and +2 respectively thru the first nine holes of the first round. McIntosh and
Gannon Williams each wrapped up the opening round with scores of 78 (+6) while Turner closed out with an 80.
The opening round featured stretches of consistent play, with multiple players limiting mistakes on the front nine before navigating a tougher closing stretch.
Round Two
Round two proved more challenging across the board, but Belhaven still found a few bright spots.
Andrew Scherer delivered the lowest round of the day for the Blazers with a 79 (+7), climbing the leaderboard and improving his overall standing to 28th.
John McIntosh added an 80 (+8) to bring himself to 17th overall, while
Andrew Rogers bounced back with an 84 (+12).
Levi Turner came in at 85 (+13), and
Gannon Williams rounded out the scoring with a 90 (+18).
Despite the higher team score, the Blazers remained within reach heading into the final round. Through two rounds, Williams sits 30th overall at +24, while Turner is 26th at +21. Scherer follows at 28th (+22), with McIntosh at 17th (+14) and Rogers at 35th (+35).
The Blazers return to the course Tuesday morning for the final round of the CCS Championship, looking to put together their best round of the week and move up the leaderboard.
