Parker Church has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Men's Golf Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career following his performance at the West Pines Collegiate earlier this week.
Church led the Blazers, tying for 34th in the 128-player field with a 5-over-par 218. The Covington, Louisiana, native posted rounds of 75, 69 and 74 as Belhaven finished 17th among 24 teams.
His 2-under 69 in the second round was the 13th-best score among the 127 golfers who completed that round. Church made four birdies against two bogeys and finished the tournament without a score worse than a bogey. His 37 pars tied for 12th in the field.
Church has recorded an under-par round in each of his last two tournaments. He closed the Rhodes Fall Invitational with a 2-under 70 to tie for 15th at 222 (+6). Through eight rounds in his first three collegiate starts, Church owns a 74.6 scoring average.
Belhaven returns to competition Oct. 26-27 at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational in Rome, Georgia.
