BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Belhaven Men's and Women's indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the Samford Bulldog Open, marking the fifth indoor meet of the 2026 season.
On the women's side, Yasmine McCann led Belhaven in the 60 meters with a time of 8.33 seconds, while
Brycelyn Townsend followed at 8.37. Townsend also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 10.07 seconds and in the 200 meters, Townsend clocked a 28.41 seconds.
The women's 400 meters featured
Myisha Turner posting a time of 1:10.32.
In distance action,
Jocelyn Belonga delivered one of the top performances of the day for the women, running a personal-best 6:39.66 in the mile. The mark improved upon her previous best earlier this season and continued her drop in time through the indoor season.
On the men's side,
Leeson Taylor III paced the Blazers in the 400 meters with a time of 52.67 seconds, improving from his 52.96 earlier this season.
Jaheem Cook followed at 55.08.
In the 800 meters,
Drew Duckworth recorded a 2:07.47, improving from his earlier 2:13 performance this season and continuing his steady mid-distance progression.
Donovan Hurst finished in 2:14.97, and
Jacob Turner posted a time of 2:15.91.
Field events were highlighted by freshman
Kenneth Mills, who placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.94 meters (6-04.25), marking one of the top finishes of the meet for Belhaven. In the men's long jump,
Alex Reed recorded a 6.08-meter effort (19-11.50), followed by
Jonah Moore at 5.49 meters (18-00.25) and Neveah Matthews at 5.15 meters (16-10.75).
The Blazers turn their attention to the outdoor portion of their season in a few weeks, heading to nearby Mississippi College for the MC Season Opener on Saturday, March 7th.
