NEW ORLEANS -
Kimona Haynes and
Ashaunti Jones of the Belhaven Women's Track & Field team have each earned All-Region recognition by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the organization earlier this month.
Haynes and Jones both earned All-South Region recognition in the 400 Meters with both holding a top five time in the event for the South Region as a whole.
Ashaunti Jones' top time in the 400 Meters came earlier this month at the Lee University Last Chance Meet where she posted a time of 55.49 seconds which ranks as one of the top 30 times in the nation. Jones had a strong close to the year, helping the Blazers to CCS championships in the 4 x 100 relay and 4 x 400 relay as well as picking up silver medals in the 100, 200 and 400.
Kimona Haynes was not far off her teammate in the event, also turning in her best time of the season at the Lee University event. Haynes posted a 55.95 second time in the 400 which landed her among the top 40 finishes in Division III this season. Haynes had a career year for the Blazers, taking the individual conference championship in the 100, 200 and 400 as well as earning the CCSÂ Women's Track Athlete of the Meet, the Women's Overall Athlete of the Meet and the Women's Athlete of the Year.
Along with Haynes and Jones, Belhaven Men's program member was recognized by the USTFCCCA All-Region release earning a spot in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump.
