ATLANTA, Ga. -
Ally Alford of the Belhaven Women's Basketball team has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Sixth Woman of the Year as announced by the league on Tuesday ahead of the start of the CCS Tournament.
Alford was stellar in a starring role off the bench for the Blazers this season averaging 13.9 points per game, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 steals per contest in 15 conference games played. The Batesville, Mississippi native ended the year second on the team with just over 3.0 assists per game as well.
Alford's contributions helped propel the Blazers to the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and their best ever CCS regular season record of 12-4. Alford finished the season with five 20-plus point performances and an impressive 23-point, 10-steal double-double in Belhaven's last game against CCS Quarterfinal opponent Huntingdon on February 13th.
Along with being named Sixth Woman of the Year, Alford was named to the All-CCS First Team alongside teammate
Ebony Gayden.
Alford and the Blazers kick off their CCS Tournament run later today against the No. 6 seed, Huntingdon, with tipoff in Rugg Arena set for 5:00 PM.
