ATLANTA - Four members of the Belhaven Women's Basketball team were named to All-Conference teams by the Collegiate Conference of the South on Tuesday ahead of the opening round of the CCS Tournament.
Ally Alford and
Ebony Gayden were named to the All-CCS First Team while
Savannah Hailey earned an All-CCS Second Team nod.
Shakendalah Jones was named as the Blazers' representative on the All-CCS Sportsmanship Team.
Ally Alford earned her first All-CCS nod with a First Team selection along with being named the CCS Sixth Woman of the Year. Alford starred off the bench for the Blazers this season with 15 appearances in conference play. The Batesville, Mississippi native finished the season averaging 13.9 points per game along with a league-leading 4.0 steals per contest.
Ebony Gayden was named to the All-CCS First Team, her second First Team selection and third All-CCS selection overall. Gayden led the Blazers in scoring with 16.9 points per game to with 8.6 rebounds per game in conference play. The McComb, Mississippi native was among the league's leaders in both categories.
Savannah Hailey was named to the All-CCS Second Team, the first All-CCS selection of her career. Hailey averaged 11.6 points per game for the Blazers this season and 6.5 rebounds while contributing with a strong all-around game with 26 steals in conference action.
Shakendalah Jones was the Blazers' representative on the All-CCS Sportsmanship Team after taking on a leadership role in her first season with the program. On the court, Jones made 14 starts in conference play averaging 5.9 points per game and a team-high 3.7 assists per contest.
The Blazers earned the No. 3 seed in the CCS Tournament and will open up their run in the quarterfinals against No. 6 Huntingdon on Tuesday. Tipoff in Rugg Arena is set for 5:00 PM.Â
