Kevin Griffin Named Associate Athletics Director

JACKSON - Belhaven Athletics is pleased to announce that Kevin Griffin has been named the Blazers' Associate Athletics Director alongside continuing his role as Belhaven's Head Softball Coach.

Griffin has spent 17 years with the Blazers in various roles along with leading the Blazers' nationally recognized softball team. Most recently, Griffin has served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Communications and the Hall of Fame Coordinator.

"Kevin has provided long-term, dynamic leadership in not only softball, but also across our athletics department", said Belhaven Director of Athletics Scott Little. "He is a steady leader who keeps our mission at the center of his work, with a keen understanding of both the details as well as the big picture."

In his new role, Griffin will add additional responsibilities on the administrative side of Belhaven Athletics including helping oversee facilities for the department and assisting Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Little. The Georgia native will also continue to serve as the Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Coordinator with the first class under his leadership to be inducted this fall.

In his 14 seasons at the helm of the Blazers' softball program, Griffin has coached 656 total games and amassed 449 career wins, the most in program history having surpassed former Head Coach Rick Fremin's total of 186 during the 2015 season.

In 2024, Griffin helped lead the Blazers to their first ever NCAA Division III Women's College World Series appearance where they reached the Championship Series and finished the year as national runners-up. In the World Series, the Blazers eliminated top seed Linfield and picked up wins over No.2 seed East Texas Baptist and No. 3 seed Case Western Reserve. The 2024 Belhaven Softball team marked the first Blazers' program to compete for an NCAA National Championship since the University became full members in the fall of 2019.
