JACKSON, Miss. - Diego Sarzalejo of the Belhaven Men's Soccer team and Alexis Whiting of the Belhaven Women's Soccer team have been named C Spire Athletes of the Week following standout performances for the Blazers from last Wednesday through this past Tuesday.

Sarzalejo, a senior defender from Caracas, Venezuela, scored two game-winning goals this week, one against Rhodes, who the Blazers beat for the first time in over ten years, and Millsaps, on a bicycle kick that was the decider in the 1-0 victory.

Whiting, a sophomore forward from Mandeville, Louisiana, came off the bench and scored in each of the first three CCS matches to kick off the season, and is tied for fourth in the conference with three goals this season.

Sarzalejo and the Blazers Men's Soccer Team will travel to Covenant on Saturday in a rematch of the 2024 CCS Championship. Whiting and the Belhaven Women's Soccer team will host Pensacola State tomorrow after beginning conference play with a 3-0 record.
