Ashaunti Barnes, Kelsey Singleton Medal on Final Day of NCAA Outdoor T&F Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The final day at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships proved to be a historic one for the Belhaven Track & Field program as Ashaunti Barnes and Kelsey Singleton combined to turn in record finishes for the Green & Gold.

Ashaunti Barnes earned the bronze medal in the Women's 400 Meters final on Saturday, placing third overall in the event. Barnes turned in a program record time of 54.93 seconds in the event and secured the highest-ever individual event finish for the Belhaven Women's Track & Field team at the NCAA Championships.

Kelsey Singleton showcased his prowess in the Men's 400 Meters final on Saturday as well earning a bronze finish the event. Singleton just narrowly missed a program record time, turning in a finish of 47.19 seconds which was just a hundredth of a second off his current record time. Singleton's top three finish sets a new highest-ever individual event finish for the Belhaven Men's Track & Field team at the NCAA Championships.

Neal Terry also finished out his trip to Myrtle Beach on Saturday in the Men's Triple Jump where he placed 21st overall. Terry caps off a breakout season for the Blazers in which he won four individual conference titles and was named the CCS Championships Performer of the Meet.

The NCAA Championships put a wrap on an outdoor season that was a historic one for the Blazers' Men and Women. Both teams saw a record number of NCAA Championship qualifiers and rewrote the school's record books as they continue to solidify themselves as a force on the national stage.
