NEW ORLEANS, La. - Four members of the Belhaven Women's Track & Field team were named to the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-South Region team as announced by the organization.
Ashaunti Barnes,
Kimona Haynes,
Syniah Sims and
Anneshia Greer all earned All-Region honors in what was a historic season for the program.
Ashaunti Barnes was named All-Region in two events, earning recognition as a part of the Blazers' 4 x 100 Meter Relay team as well as in the 400 Meters. Barnes earned qualification to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 400 Meters this spring and placed third in the nation at the NCAA meet this weekend, the highest-ever individual event finish for the Belhaven Women at the NCAA Championships.
Kimona Haynes joined Barnes in being named to the All-South Region team in both the 4 x 100 Meter Relay and the 400 Meters. Like Barnes, Haynes earned a spot in the 400 Meter field at the NCAAÂ Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, her first ever national championship appearance, and claimed a top 20 finish in the country.
Syniah Sims was named All-Region in three events by the USTFCCCA joining Barnes and Haynes on the 4 x 100 Meter Relay team. Sims was also named All-Region in both the 100 Meters and 200 Meters, a pair of events in which she competed at the NCAA Championships this weekend. Sims, capped a stellar first-year campaign at the national meet in Myrtle Beach with a top 20 finish in the 100 Meters.
Anneshia Greer rounds out the quarter of Blazers to earn an All-Region nod from the USTFCCCA as she joined her teammates above in earning recognition in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay. Greer, along with the trio above, set a new program record in the 4 x 100 at the Southern Miss Invitational in March with a time of 46.47 seconds.
