CLINTON, Miss. - The Belhaven Track & Field program had a strong showing at the Mississippi College Spring Cleaning meet as they opened outdoor season at the crosstown host. The Blazers picked up two event wins on the day, dominating both the Men's and Women's 400 Meters.
Ashaunti Barnes stole the headlines for the Belhaven Women as she took top spot in the 400 Meters with a time of 57.07 seconds. The Blazers dominated the Women's 400 on the day as
Kimona Haynes placed 2nd in the event with a time of 57.77 seconds.
In the Women's High Jump,
D'Asia Franklin posted a strong 2nd place finish while
Syniah Sims grabbed 5th place in the 100 Meters.
Jelecia Brown led the way for the Blazers in the throws, finishing 6th in the Shot Put and 8th in the Discus Throw.
On the Men's side,
Kelsey Singleton took 1st place in the 400 Meters, posting a time of 48.14 seconds which also marked a new program record. Singleton also finished 5th on the day in the 200 Meters.
Alex Reed also grabbed a 6th place finish in the Men's Long Jump at the meet.
Next up for the Blazers is the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships before hosting the Belhaven Invitational on March 23rd.
