TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - It was a successful trip to "The Hoosier State" for the Belhaven Track & Field program as they competed in the Rose-Hulman Friday Night Spike Series. Both the Men's and Women's teams finished 4th of 7 teams overall with numerous strong individual finishes.
Kelsey Singleton grabbed the headlines for Belhaven as an individual as he took home the top finish in the Men's 400 Meters with a time of 50.11 seconds, not far off the record program he set last weekend at the Samford Open.
Sylvester Sims grabbed a top 10 spot in the same event for Belhaven.
Continuing on the Men's side,
Justice Moore placed second in the 60 Meters with a personal best mark of 6.96 seconds while
Devin Moore and TyKell Thomas made it a trio of top 10 finishes in the event. TyKell Thomas had a pair of top 10 finishes on the day as he grabbed second place with a personal best performance in the 60 Meters Hurdles.
In the 200 Meters,
Justice Moore and
Kelsey Singleton placed 2nd and 3rd while
Devin Moore finished 9th overall. Rounding out the top performances on the day for the Blazers' men were
Alex Reed who finished 5th in the Long Jump and Tyrone McPherson who placed 7th in the Shot Put.Â
For the Belhaven Women,
Syniah Sims grabbed 2nd place in the 60 Meters and 200 Meters as she put together a career day.
Kimona Haynes and
Ashaunti Barnes placed inside the top 10 in the 200 Meters in what ended as a strong event for the team. Haynes and Barnes also grabbed top five finishes in the 400 Meters while
Jakia Joiner earned a 2nd place finish in Triple Jump.Â
D'Asia Franklin placed 9th in the High Jump while
Jelecia Brown secured a pair of top 10 finishes on the day as she placed 6th in the Shot Put and 8th in the Weight Throw.Â
Both Belhaven Track & Field teams will be back in action in two weeks as they head back to Birmingham to compete in the Samford Bulldog Open on February 10th.Â
