CLINTON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Cross Country teams began their 2023 slate on Friday, competing in the Mississippi College Season Opener held at Choctaw Trails. The Men's team placed 10th overall with a total of 316 points.

On the Women's side, Lylo Johnson led Belhaven finishers with a time of 25:23.68. Myisha Turner turned in a time of 27:30.01, while freshman Taylar Fakes finished at 30:38.58 in her first collegiate race. 

Garrett Masters placed 66th overall to lead the Blazers with a time of 18:04.04. Andrew Duckworth and Theodore McCarty followed with times of 18:49.97 and 19:20.71, respectively. Donovan Hurst (20:36.09), Silas Childress (21:04.10), and Omar Williams (24:32.36) rounded out the Belhaven finishers.

Both teams are set to compete next on September 16th at the Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee.
