ATLANTA, Ga. - After an impressive debut season on the track for the Blazers,
Kimona Haynes of the Belhaven Women's Track & Field team was named the Collegiate Conference of the South Women's Rookie of the Year on Wednesday.
Haynes earned a pair of CCS Rookie of the Week nods throughout the spring season as she established herself as one of the top runners in the conference. After picking up four top-five finishes at the Blazers' home meet back in March, Haynes was tabbed the league's Track Athlete of the Week.
In the Collegiate Conference of the South Championships, Haynes was a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that took home the top spot. She picked up a trio of 2nd-place finishes in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4x400-meter relay events.
Haynes finished in the top-five 17 times this year in both individual and relay events to help lead the Blazers to an impressive first season in the CCS.
