JACKSON, Miss. - As 2023 draws to a close, Belhaven Athletics is proud to recount some of the many moments displayed by Blazers student-athletes and teams that made this calendar year one to remember. Over the remainder of the year, multiple moments will be recounted, featuring each of Belhaven's athletics programs.
TOP MOMENTS OF 2023: MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD EARN PAIR OF CONFERENCE TITLES AT FIRST CCS CHAMPIONSHIPS
At the end of April, the Belhaven Track & Field program served as hosts for the first ever Collegiate Conference of the South Championships and put together an impressive weekend earning seven total individual titles including two from the Men's program.
Benjamin Adams led the way for the Blazers as he took home the CCS Championship in Men's Javelin. A veteran of the Blazers' program, Adams posted a distance of 48.80 meters, outpacing the next closest non-Belhaven athlete by nearly 10 meters. The conference championship for Adams also marked his fourth conference championship as a member of Blazers' Athletics having won the Men's Javelin for the American Southwest Conference in 2019, 2021 and 2022. His performances on the year earned Adams a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Region list.
Kelsey Singleton would grab the first conference championship of his Belhaven career on the second day of the meet as he took top spot in the Men's 200 Meters. Singleton posted a time of 21.60 seconds and put together an impressive display as he placed 2nd in the Men's 100 Meters and was a part of the Men's 4 x 400 Meter Relay team that placed 2nd.
The Men's Track and Field program will return for their Spring season which begins in late January and are looking to continue their success under Head Coach
Butch Ard.
