Men's Cross Country Dylan Foley

Track and Field Earn Quality Finishes at Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Belhaven Track and Field Teams comped in the Southern Miss Invitational on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.  

On the women's side, Kelsi BouldinAnneshia Greer, and Aadreona Conner competed in the 100 and 200 meters. Ashton Lovelace joined the trio in the 100 and finished with a time of 13.19, while Ellie Brooker joined Bouldin, Greer, and Conner in the 200. 

 Maurissa Winford, Ashaunti Barnes, Frances Knight, Brooker all ran the 400 and finished within 10 seconds of each other. To close out the running events for the Blazers, Francie LeDuff competed in the 800 and 1500 and had two top 25 finishes in the events. 

In the field events, Desire Tackett was the lone Blazer to compete in the Discus and the Shot Put. The Women's track and field team clocked a 50.23 in the 4x100 and a 4:18.17 in the 4x400 relay. 

On the men's side, Christian Venzen and Keandre Fultz competed in the 100 and finished with a time of 11.35 and 11:48, respectively. Fultz also ran the 200 along with Charles WilsonKelton Kemp once again shined in the hurdles, coming in sixth place in the 110 Hurdles and fifth place in the 400 Hurdles.  

Hunter Magno-Hester and Theodore McCarty competed in the Men's 800 and 1500. McCarty also ran the 5000 and finished in 12th place. Matthew Taylor competed in the 5000 and finished  just behind McCarty. 

In the field events, the Blazers had six athletes to compete in the Discus Throw. QuoShane Kelly led the pack with a distance of 39.95m and a 12th place finish. A quartet of Blazers threw the Hammer, with Master Davis leading the way for the Green and Gold. QuoShane Kelly along with Markese Lee threw the Javelin as Kelly finished in ninth place with a distance of 43.83m.   

Master Davis led the Blazers in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.35m as five other Blazers competed in the Shot Put. Charles Wilson was the only Blazer to enter the Triple Jump event and clocked a distance of 14.09, good enough for a seventh-place finish. The Men's track and field team also competed in the 4x400 relay and crossed the finish line at 3:28.35. 

The Blazers will return to action on Saturday, April 10 against Millsaps College in the Boarder Battle at the Millsaps Track and Field Complex.
