JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Track and Field teams hosted the Belhaven Invitational on Saturday, April 17, and posted a multitude of strong showings and finishes ahead of the American Southwest Conference Outdoor Championships.
The Blazers placed with the second best time in the Men's 4X100 Relay featuring the team of
Christian Venzen,
Kelton Kemp, Keandre Fultz, and Charles Wilson, while the Women's 4x400 Relay team of
Aadreona Conner,
Kelsi Bouldin, Francis Knight, and
Anneshia Greer placed second in the event. The women posted a third place finish in the 4X100 event, while the men finished fourth in the 4X400 event.
Francis Knight posted the best time for the Blazers in the Women's 100 Meter dash with a mark of 12.78, while Keandre Fultz ran an 11.04 for the best men's time in the same event.
Kelton Kemp posted a mark of 14.78 in the Men's 110 Meter hurdles and a 54.37 in the Men's 400 Meter hurdles event. During the 200 meter dash event,
Ashaunti Barnes posted a team best mark of 25.78, while
Christian Venzen led the men with a 22.39. Charles Wilson posted a team best of 56.65 in the Men's 400 meter dash, while
Hunter Magno-Hester posted marks of 2:10.76 and 4:29.25 in the Men's 800 and 1500 meter events respectively. Francie LeDuff ran a 5:42.86 in the Women's 1500 meter event.
In the field events, Master Davis led the team in the discuss throw with 36.66 meters, while Hunter Williams finished with a distance of 35.43 meters. In the Women's discuss throw,
Desire Tackett posted a distance of 23.88 meters. Quoshane Kelly led the Blazers in the Men's Hammer Throw with a distance of 38.49 meters, while
Desire Tackett and
Neely Brunt posted marks of 32.45 meters and 21.06 meters respectively in the Women's Hammer Throw. Quoshane Kelly also posted the third best mark in the javelin throw with a distance of 44.88 meters, while Hunter Williams and Master Davis posted marks of 11.75 and 11.40 meters respectively in the Men's shot put.
Desire Tackett posted a mark of 8.93 meters, while Nelly Brunt had a mark of 8.37 meters in the Women's shot put.
Christian Venzen posted the fourth best distance in the long jump at 6.33 meters, while Charles Wilson placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.95 meters.
Belhaven University will be the host for the ASC Outdoor Championships on starting on April 29.
