CLINTON, Miss. - The Belhaven University Men's and Women's Track and Field teams participated in the 2021 Mississippi College Season Opener on Saturday, March 6.
For the track events,
Matthew Taylor ran in the 5000 Meter run and finished with a time of 18:19.64.
Kelton Kemp ran in the 400 Meter Hurdles and finished second in his section 55.01 and finished second overall with that time. The Women's 4x100 Meter Relay team of
Kelsi Bouldin,
Frances Knight,
Ashaunti Barnes, Maurissa Winford finished with a time of 50.61, which was second overall in their section and sixth overall. The Men's 4x100 Meter Relay team of
Christian Venzen, Charles Wilson, Keandre Fultz, and
Kelton Kemp ran a 42.96 in their event finishing fourth in their section and 11th overall.
Francie LaDuff competed in the 1500 Meter Run and finished with a time of 5:50.91 which was seventh best in her section and 33rd overall. Charles Walker competed in the 1500 Meter Run on the men's side and finished with a time of 4:51.29. The women's team had three competitors in the 400 Meter Dash, those being
Ashaunti Barnes, Maurissa Winford, and
Ellie Brooker. Barnes and Winford finished back-to-back in their respective section with times 1:01.95 and 1:02.14 which were second and third best in their section and both finished in the Top 20 overall. Brooker finished with a time of 1:09.04, which was sixth best in her section. Everett Ganier competed in the Men's 400 Meter Dash and finished with a time of 57.87 which was fourth best in his section.
Kelsi Bouldin,
Aadreona Conner,
Frances Knight, and
Anneshia Greer competed in the 100 Meter Dash and finished with times of 13.54, 14.04,13.55, and 13.76 respectively. Bouldin and Knight finished in second in their sections, while Conner and Greer finished fourth in their sections.
Christian Venzen, Michael Bonds, Keandre Fultz, and Roderick Gordon competed in the 100 Meter Dash on the men's side and finished with times of 11.40, 12.79, 11.53, and 13.98 respectively. Venzen placed in the Top 20 overall with his time.
Kelton Kemp competed in the 110 Meter Hurdles and finished with a time of 16.14 which was third best in his section and fifth best overall.
Hunter Magno-Hester and Theodore McCarty ran in the 800 Meter Run and had times of 2:10.21 and 2:15.72.
For the field events, Keandre Fultz competed in the Long Jump and finished 14th overall with a distance of 6.40 meters. Charles Wilson competed in the Triple Jump and finished second overall with a distance of 14.11 meters. Master Davis, Jaron Archuleta, Jordan Wakefield, Standish Dyson, Benjamin Adams, and QuoShane Kelly all competed in the Shot Put. Davis and Dyson both had Top 25 overall finished with distances of 10.71 meters and 10.58 meters respectively. Davis and Dyson also had Top 25 finishes in the Discus Throw with distances of 29.53 meters and and 27.87 meters respectively. Wakefield, Archuleta, and Kelly also participated in the event during the meet. Benjamin Adams finished second overall in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 49.26 meters.
