STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Belhaven University track teams competed in the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays on Saturday, which was hosted by Mississippi State University. The meet was composed of mostly NCAA Division I talent.
On the women's side, Frances Knight finished first for the Blazers in the 100 meters with a time of 12.86. Ashaunti Barnes and Maurissa Winford were the other two athletes to run the 100 meters and 200 meters. Kelsi Bouldin joined Barnes and Winford in the 200 meters and crossed the finish line at 27.02. The final event the Blazers competed in was the 4x100 relay and the team was composed of Kelsi Bouldin, Frances Knight, Ashunti Barnes and Maurissa Winford.
On the men's side, Kelton Kemp finished with a time of 14.56 in the 110 hurdles to set a new school record. Kemp also competed in the 400 hurdles and finished in 6th place out of 15 competitors. Christian Venzen, Charles Wilson, and Keandre Fultz were the trio of Blazers that ran in the 100 meters. Venzen was the lone Blazer to compete in the 200 meters and finished in 22nd place with a time of 22.06. The Green and Gold also competed in the 4x100 relay and finished in 5th place. The team that ran the relay included: Christian Venzen, Kelton Kemp, Keandre Fultz, and Charles Wilson.
The Blazers will return to action on April 2 and 3 at the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss.
