BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belhaven men's and women's track and field team competed in the KMS Invite at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The meet consisted of schools in NCAA Division I, II, III, and the NAIA.
On the women's side,
Frances Knight finished first for the Blazers in the 60m dash, followed by
Kelsi Bouldin and
Aadreona Conner.
Ashaunti Barnes finished with a time of 27.42 in the 200m dash, which led the way for the Blazers.
Frances Knight and
Aadreona Conner also competed in the 200 and finished with a time of 28.09 and 29.88, respectively.
Maurissa Winford and
Ellie Brooker competed in the 400m dash and finished in the top 20 of the runners.
Francie LaDuff was the only runner for the Blazers in the 800 and completed the race at the 2:58.16 mark. Additionally, she ran the 1 mile and finished with a 6:38.14 time.
In the field events,
Neely Brunt threw the Shot Put and the Weight Throw and finished in 18
th place in both events. The Blazers also competed in the 4x200 meter Relay and finished with a time of 1:52.71, which is now the school record.
On the men's side,
Christian Venzen, Keandre Fultz, and Charles Wilson all competed in the 60m dash prelims. Venzen had a fast enough time to qualify him for the semifinals, which was a 7.20 time.
Kelton Kemp notched a time of 8.84 in the 60m hurdles. Kemp also competed in the 200m dash and finished first for the Blazers. Venzen and Fultz followed Kemp with a time of 23.40 and 23.89, respectively.
Everett Gainer finished the 400m dash at the 56.37 mark, Bonds clocked a time of 57.61. Theodore McCarty was the only Blazer to compete in the 800. Hunter Mago-Hester finished the 1 mile run with a time of 5:12.78. Charles Walker also competed in the one mile run and posted a 5:39.51 time.
In the field events, QuoShane Kelly hit a distance of 10.30m in the Shot Put followed by Standish Dyson's 10.09m throw. Dyson also competed in the Weight Throw and finished in 10
th place in the competition. Jarron Archuleta finished the Weight Throw with an 8.60m throw. The men's team posted a 1:32.91 time in the 4x200 meter relay, which set a new school record.
