BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belhaven University track and field team used the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Blazer Invitational to start the indoor season at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Blazers saw a mix of action, competing in 12 different events in the Invitational. The Invitational was mostly composed of NCAA Division I talent.
On the women's side, Francis Knight, Kelsi Bouldin, and Aadreona Conner competed in the 60m dash, while Ashunti Barnes, Maurissa Winford, and Ellie Brooker finished the 300m dash. Neely Brunt competed in the Weight Throw and concluded with a toss of 5.87m. Additionally, the Blazers earned a fifth-place finish (1:54.00) in the 4x200m relay.
On the men's side, Keandre Fultz, Christian Venzen, Rodrick Gordon ran in the 60m dash (Prelims), while Kelton Kemp qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles and finished with a time of 8.65. Everett Gainer and Michael Bonds both ran the 300m dash, before Kelton Kemp finished in 4th place in the 500m dash. Theodore McCarty and Matthew Taylor rounded out the running events for Belhaven when they competed in the 3000m run.
In field events, Charles Wilson leaped 13.59m to place 2nd in the triple jump, while Standish Dyson and Jarron Archuleta competed in the Weight Throw. Ben Adams and Markese Lee saw action in the Shot Put and finished in the top 10.
Belhaven will continue competition tomorrow as they remain in Birmingham for the Vulcan Invite.
