SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Belhaven Track and Field teams opened the 2020 indoor season at the Sewanee Meet on Saturday.
In the women's 55 meter dash, Kelsi Bouldin recorded a time of 7.87. She also registered a time of 29.43 in the 200 meter dash and placed 11 place overall. Maurissa Winford crossed the finish line with a time of 30.19 and Ellie Brooker rounded out the scoring in the 200m dash. Brooker also competed in the Women's 400 meter dash, compiling a time of 1:09.84, while Aadreona Conner was the other Blazer to cross the finish line of the 400 meter dash. Francie LaDuff was the lone Blazer to compete in the Mile and 3000 meters and posted a time of 6:41.52 in the mile and 13:45.50 in the 3000m.
In the field events on the women's side, Norde Galloway competed in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. She finished with a mark of 8.33m in the Shot Put and 7.10m in the Weight Throw. Aliyah Elliot and Cydney James were the other Blazers to participate in the Shot Put. As a team, the Blazers finished in 11
th place.
On the men's side, Christisn Venzen logged a time of 6.59 in the 55m dash and came in 9
th place in the 200 meter dash. LaMarcus Caradine was the other Blazer to finish the 55 meter dash.
Tommy McCoy, Michael Bonds, and Everett Ganier all competed in the 200 meter dash and finished with a time of 24.11, 25.96, and 26.63 respectively.
Kelton Kemp participated in the 400 meter dash and came in 7
th place. Jabarie Weathers and Charles Pegues were the other two finishers in the 400m and finished 4 seconds apart.
Hunter Magno-Hester and
Javarcea Thomas both competed in the 800 meters and the 1 mile. John Toliver rounded out the scoring for the Green and Gold with a time of 2:35.15.
Matthew Taylor had a time of 5:28.63 in the Mile andc10:37.89 in the 3000 meters. Charles Walker was the final Blazer to cross the line in the mile with a time of 5:47.46.
In the field events,
Kelton Kemp was the only participant in the 55 meter hurdles and finished in 5
th place.
Tommy McCoy competed in the Triple Jump and finished in 2
nd place and had a 13.77m jump, while Jabarie Weathers finished with a mark of 11.39m.
Ben Adams was the only Balazers to compete in the Shot Put. The final event was the Weight Throw and Jordan Wakefield and Jarron Archuleta were the participants and finished in 10
th and 11
th place. As a team, the Green and Gold finished in 9
th place.
The Blazers will return to action on February 22 in Hattiesburg, Miss. for the William Carey University Qualifier.
