Men's Cross Country Dylan Foley

Cross Country Competes Well at the Mississippi College Season Opener

CLINTON, Miss.– On Friday, the Belhaven University men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2019 season at the Mississippi College Season Opener at Choctaw Trails.
 
On the women's side, Francie LaDuff crossed the finish line at the 19:17.56 mark to lead the way for the Blazers.

Ellie Brooker was right behind LaDuff with a time of 19:48.51. Aadreana Connor completed the 4k with a time of 22:59.80 to round out the scoring for the Blazers.
 
On the men's side, Rick Hodum led the way for the Green and Gold registering a time of 18:14.53 to set the bar for the rest of the Blazers.
 
Matthew Taylor crossed the finish line at the 19:00.64 mark, while Hunter Magno-Hester completed the 5K with a time of 19:35.85.
 
Battling the heat, Javarcea Thomas crossed the finished line with a time of 20:33.30. Additionally, Charles Walker finished the race five seconds behind Thomas .
 
Rounding out the scoring for the Blazers was Charles Pegues who concluded the race with a time of 22:24.18.
 
As a team, the Blazers finished in 8thplace out of 12 teams.
 
Both teams will return to the course on Saturday, September 7 at the University of Montevallo Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Ala.
