Hattiesburg, MS- The Belhaven men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Golden Eagle Cross Country Classic on Friday evening. The Blazer women finished 3rd out of 5 teams in the 5k run while the Blazer men did not qualify for placement. The host school Southern Mississippi took first place on the women's side while Millsaps College claimed a win on the men's side.

Sarah Storment crossed the finish line first for the Blazers finishing 13 out of 30 runners earning 12 points. Sarah McAllister, Sarah Rivera and Chloe Brown claimed spots number 15, 16, and 17 gaining points of 14, 15, and 16 respectively. Chellese Hall and Seraphine Lin rounded out the Blazers' placement in the 22nd and 23rd spots.

For the Blazer men, Peter Davis came in 4th place out of 18 runners followed by Robert Ricks and Andrew Sinclair who grabbed the 8th and 9th spots. Nick Sheehan rounded out the field for the Blazers in 14th place.

The Blazers will be back in action at the MC/Watson Ford Invitational in Clinton, MS October 7, 2011. Both the men and women teams are slated to begin at 4:30PM.
