Blazers Compete in Southern States Athletic Conference Championships

Clinton, MS- The Belhaven University men's and women's cross country teams hosted as well as  competed in the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday morning in Clinton, Miss.  The men finished in the 9th spot out of 11 teams completing the course with a team time of 2:37:42.65. The Belhaven women notched 9th place as well out of 12 teams logging a team time of 1:52:09.61. Shorter University took first place on both the men's and women's side logging team times of 2:09:42.66(men) and 1:36:30.65(women).

Leading the way for the Belhaven men was Peter Davis finishing in 50th place out of 87 runners with a time of 29:52.80. Robert Ricks followed Davis in the 58th spot claiming a time of 31:03.28. Andrew Sinclair gained the 62nd place logging a time of 31:21.28 and was followed by Blazer runners Thorburn Mcgee (71st), Gabriel Prado (75th), and Nicholas Sheehan (83rd).

The Belhaven women were paced by Sarah Storment who crossed the finish line in 40th place out of 83 runners with a time of 21:40.36. The next Blazer runners finished consecutively claiming the 47th, 48th and 49th spots were Chloe Brown, Sarah Rivera and Sarah Mccallister all within four seconds apart from one another.  The final Blazer runners to round out the lineup were Jackie Bateman (60th), Chellese Hall (77th), and Seraphine Lin (78th).

The top team on the men's side and the top two teams on the women's side will compete at the NAIA national championships in Vancouver, WA on November 19th.
