Gulfport, Miss- The Belhaven men and women's cross country teams competed in the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning in Gulfport, MS. The men finished the 8k run 7th out of 10 teams logging in a team time of 160:17. On the women's side, Belhaven finished 8th out of 11 teams in the 5k run recording a team time of 115: 24. Shorter took first place on the men's side and Lee captured the title on the women's side.

Hannah Reese led the Blazers, who finished 17th out of 77 runners, carrying a time of 20:28. Sarah Storment followed Reese finishing in 32nd with a time of 21:19. Sarah McCallister trailed Storment at 52nd with a time of 23:24. Rounding out the runners for the Blazers were Sarah Rivera (57th), Seraphine Lin (65th), and Chellese Hall (69th). Justyna Mudy of Shorter led all runners with a time of 17:15.02.

The top finisher on the men's side was Luke Lennon finishing 32nd out of 65 runners with a time of 29:51. Peter Davis crossed the line at 33rd clocking a time of 29:51 as well. Davis was trailed by Robert Ricks (43rd), Michael Hawkins (55th), and Andrew Sinclair (56th). Paul Chelimo of Shorter had the top time for the men's field at 24:28.50. The Hawks took the top five individual positions in the meet and dominated the rest of the field.

The SSAC Championships wrapped up both the men's and women's 2010 seasons.
