Rome, GA- The Belhaven men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Southeast Cross Country Classic hosted by Berry College Saturday morning in Rome, GA. The Blazer women finished in 23rd place out of 27 teams while the men finished 24th out of 28 teams. The women logged a team time of 1:57:54.48 in the 5k run while the men logged a time of 2:45:12.31 in the 8k run. Indiana Wesleyan University won the event on the women's side with a team time of 1:34:22.76 and Bryan College won out on the men's side recording a team time of 2:06:30.59.

The Blazers were led by Hannah Reese who finished 80th out of 232 runners recording a time of 20:42.52. Crossing the finish line next was Sarah Storment who finished 134th with a time of 21:51.49 followed by Sarah McCallister (192), Sarah Rivera (199), Chellese Hall (218), and Seraphine Lin (225). The individual winner on the women's side was Justyna Mudy of Shorter University with a time of 17:30.53

Peter Davis was the top finisher for the men finishing 177th out of 238 runners logging a time of 30:02.83. Luke Lennon followed Davis in the 182nd position with a time of 30:12.13. Lennon was trailed by Robert Ricks (207), Michael Hawkins (225), and Andrew Sinclair (233). The top individual finisher in the event on the men's side was Paul Chelimo who is also from Shorter. Chelimo crossed the line in a time of 23:59.93

Belhaven will hit the course again on Saturday November 6th in the SSAC Championships starting with the men's race at 8:00 AM. The women's meet will get underway at 8:45 AM.
