Clinton, MS-The Belhaven men's and women's cross country team's finished up the season at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference meet Saturday with a fifth place finish by the men and a second place finish by the women. Xavier University of New Orleans took first place in both the men's and women's divisions.
The Belhaven men recorded an average time of 31:45.81 in their 8k run with the women checking in with an average time of 21:53.32 in their 5k run. The Lady Blazers had three runners qualify for this years NAIA national meet.
Christie Barber finished third overall with a time of 20:33.07 to qualify along with Jessica Gunning and Libby Brown. Brown placed 7th with an overall time of 21:17.74 and Gunning crossed the finish line in 9th position with a time of 21:39.10.
Luke Lennon was the top finisher for the men placing 14
th overall with a time of 31:19.72.
The Women's National meet will take place Saturday November 22nd at the Dr. Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The 5 k meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM (CST).
