JACKSON, Miss. - After putting together one of the top offensive seasons in the CCS, Belhaven third baseman Austin Canale added another postseason honor to his breakout sophomore campaign, earning ABCA All-Region VI Third Team recognition.

The Mandeville, Louisiana native became one of the most consistent bats in the CCS this spring and played a major role in one of Belhaven's most successful seasons in recent years.

He also helped lead the Blazers to the highest national ranking in program history earlier this spring when Belhaven climbed to No. 4 in the D3baseball.com Top 25. Canale was one of the most productive hitters in the middle of Belhaven's lineup throughout the season. He led the team with a .357 batting average while recording 65 hits, 47 runs scored, 13 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 46 RBI across 46 starts.

The sophomore finished among the CCS leaders in several offensive categories during conference play, including RBI and hits, while consistently producing in big moments throughout the season. His postseason included several clutch performances, including a three-run double in Belhaven's NCAA Regional game against Concordia (Texas) and multiple key hits during the Blazers' run through the CCS Tournament.

Canale also earned First Team All-CCS honors earlier this postseason, the first all-conference recognition of his career. Defensively, he started all 46 games at third base and totaled 88 assists while helping anchor a Belhaven infield that turned 34 double plays during the season.
