JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven University proudly announced the 2026 Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Class on July 27th featuring five inductees. The inductees will be profiled with a look at how they impacted Belhaven Athletics and left their mark as Blazers. This year's honorees will be inducted into the Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 24th as part of this year's Homecoming festivities.
Paul Warren could help Belhaven win from either side of the matchup. At the plate, he produced one of the highest batting averages in program history. On the mound, he carried a starting workload that still places him among the Blazers' career leaders.
More than three decades after his final collegiate season, that combination of hitting and pitching remains the defining feature of his Belhaven career. Now, Warren's accomplishments will be recognized with his selection to the Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
His best season came in 1989. Warren hit .453 with 10 home runs and earned Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. He also threw two shutouts that season, contributing to the Blazers as both a hitter and a starting pitcher.
The .453 average remains second in Belhaven history. Only Ronnie Agterberg, who hit .460 in 1992, has finished a season with a higher qualifying average.
Warren had already earned All-GCAC recognition in 1988. A year later, he followed that performance with the conference's top individual honor in his final season at Belhaven.
He played under Chip Jones in 1987 and 1988 before Skip Blythe took over the program in 1989. Warren's production at the plate and regular work in the rotation made him a significant contributor throughout those three seasons.
His career pitching total adds context to his offensive accomplishments. While compiling one of the best batting averages in school history, Warren also took the ball for 30 starts. In 1989, his two shutouts came during the same season he hit .453 and reached double figures in home runs.
Warren takes his place among the university's celebrated student-athletes with his induction into the 2026 Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame; honored for three seasons of excellence at the plate and on the mound.
