JACKSON, Miss. - John Wade (Houma, La.) of the Belhaven Baseball team and Maryanna Guy  (Brandon, Miss.) of the Belhaven Softball team have been named the C Spire Athletes of the Week following their strong performances in competition for the Blazers from last Wednesday thru this past Tuesday.

Wade, a sophomore closer, pitched 1.1 innings for the Blazers last weekend, striking out all four batters and registering two saves at Covenant. Wade leads the team with seven saves and 14 strikeouts while batters are hitting just .080.

Guy, a junior infielder, hit .571 with three RBI in two games vs. nationally-ranked Huntingdon last weekend. She is also in the midst of a 18-game hitting streak, the longest from a Blazer since 2021.

Wade and the Blazers Baseball team host LaGrange for a three-game series beginning this Friday. Guy and the Blazers Softball team travels to Millsaps tonight to take on the Majors in the second game of the Riverside Rivalry.
