JACKSON, Miss. - Owen Abney (Madison, Miss.) of the Belhaven Baseball team and Kaleigh Steverson (Canton, Miss.) of the Belhaven Softball team have been named the C Spire Athletes of the Week following their strong performances in competition for the Blazers from last Wednesday thru this past Tuesday.

Abney, a senior second baseman, went 9-for-16 (.563) across four games last week, scoring five times while registering four extra base hits. He also drove in six and stole a base to help the Blazers extend their unbeaten streak to 12-0.

Steverson, a junior first baseman, went 11-for-21 (.524) in six games last week to lead the Blazers to a 4-2 record at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. She recorded a hit in each of the six games, while scoring five runs and homering twice.

Abney and the Blazers Baseball team heads to Methodist in North Carolina for a single game at 3:00 PM today, while Steverson and the softball team continues their spring trip with games at Florida later today.
