Belhaven Baseball Reaches Historic No. 4 National Ranking

JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven Baseball has reached a milestone that no team in program history has ever achieved. The Blazers climbed to No. 4 in the latest D3Baseball.com Top 25 poll released Tuesday morning, marking the highest national ranking in program history.

Belhaven (12-0) enters the week as the only team in Division III without a loss, boasting the most wins without a defeat of any program in the country at this stage of the 2026 season. The Blazers received three first-place votes in this week's balloting and accumulated 496 points, vaulting seven spots from their previous ranking of No. 11.

This week's D3Baseball.com poll is headlined by Denison University at No. 1 with nine first-place votes, followed by Salisbury (3 first-place votes) at No. 2 and Johns Hopkins (6 first-place votes) at No. 3. Belhaven sits fourth ahead of Lynchburg, Washington University in St. Louis, Salve Regina, Kean, Trinity (Texas) and Rowan to round out the top 10.
The Blazers have backed up their unblemished record with some of the most dominant offensive production in Division III. Belhaven is hitting .339 as a team with 111 runs scored across 12 games, averaging more than nine runs per game. The Blazers have posted a .470 on-base percentage and a .468 slugging percentage as a team.

Leading the offensive charge is junior Austin Canale, who is hitting .463 with 19 hits, 17 RBI and a .577 on-base percentage in 12 starts. JD Weed has been equally impressive, batting .450 with 18 hits and five doubles, while Parker Ryan is slashing .400/.580/.714 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 11 starts.

Blake McCarthy adds a .395 average and team-high six stolen bases, contributing to the Blazers' 28-for-32 mark on stolen base attempts as a team. Owen Abney has added consistent power in the middle of the lineup, batting .311 with two home runs, two triples and 11 RBI.

The pitching staff has been equally stingy, holding opponents to a .242 batting average while striking out 90 batters in 100 innings pitched. Gunner Staten leads the rotation with a 3-0 record and 1.69 ERA in 16 innings of work, having struck out 14 while limiting opposing hitters to a .098 batting average. John Wade leads the bullpen with three saves and has not allowed an earned run in 3.1 innings, while Cooper Sirk has posted a 0.00 ERA in four appearances with seven strikeouts.

Belhaven has played 11 of their 12 games at home this season, going a perfect 11-0 at home and 1-0 on the road.

The Blazers hit the road for their next three games, with their next game slated for tomorrow at Methodist (NC). First pitch is set for 6:00 PM.
