BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Track and Field teams continued their strong indoor campaign Friday at the Samford Bulldog Invitational, turning in several personal-best performances against a competitive field.
The men opened the meet in the 60 meters, where
Leeson Taylor III led the Blazers with a time of 7.35 seconds.
Julius Phillips followed at 7.38, while freshman
Jaheem Cook posted a personal-best 7.55.
In the 200 meters, Taylor added a time of 23.56 seconds, while Cook continued his improvement trend with a personal-best 24.45.Â
The 400 meters saw
Kenneth Mills lead the group with a time of 53 seconds flat. Senior
Drew Duckworth recorded a personal-best time of 54.15 seconds, and
Donovan Hurst finished the race in 58.66 seconds.
Field event action was highlighted by
Alex Reed, who placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.16 meters (20-02.50).
Jonah Moore followed at 5.57 meters (18-03.25), and Neveah Matthews recorded a jump of 5.25 meters (17-02.75).
On the women's side, Yasmine McCann delivered a time of 8.23 seconds in the 60 meters, while freshman
Brycelyn Townsend recorded a time of 8.29 seconds. Townsend returned in the 60-meter hurdles and posted a time of 9.86 seconds.
In the 200 meters, Townsend clocked a time of 28.21 and McCann followed with a time of 28.55 seconds. The women's 800 meters featured
Courtney Adams finishing in 2:51.48 and
Myisha Turner close behind at 2:52.68.
The Blazers return to the track tomorrow at the Bulldog Open. The first event for the Blazers is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
