HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - The Belhaven Men's Cross Country team will race in the 2026 CCS Championship this Friday at John Hunt Cross Country Park in Huntsville, Alabama. The 8K is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. CT, following the women's race.

Freshman De'Marion Sims has led Belhaven in its two most recent 8K races. He ran 31:13.0 at the Belhaven Invitational on Oct. 3, then lowered his personal best to 30:15.2 at the Watson Collegiate Classic two weeks ago.

Junior Peyton Vande Vuss also ran a season best at Watson, finishing in 33:58.1. He is the Blazers' returning runner from last year's CCS Championship, where he placed 46th and set his 8K personal best of 32:52.8. Belhaven finished fifth in the 2025 team standings with 122 points.

Covenant won that race with 26 points and returns to Huntsville tied with Asbury atop the CCS pre-championship coaches' poll. Covenant's Chandler Lines, who finished eighth a year ago, is among the returning runners. Piedmont's Brody Geckler placed 17th last year, and Asbury's Josiah Ernst was 18th.

The six-team field includes Asbury, Belhaven, Covenant, Huntingdon, LaGrange and Piedmont. Friday's race returns to the same John Hunt course that hosted the 2025 championship.
