Kyle Norris Named to D3Football.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - Kyle Norris has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after constantly giving Southern Virginia a long field in Saturday's Homecoming game.

It's the first Team of the Week selection of his career and follows his first career USA South Special Teams Player of the Week honor.

Norris punted five times for 273 yards, averaging a season-best 54.6 yards per kick. Four punts traveled at least 50 yards, four were downed inside the 20 and none went for a touchback.

Twice, the Knights took over at their own 1-yard line. The first came after a 63-yard punt that tied Norris's season long. The second came on a 51-yarder late in the first quarter. On Southern Virginia's next snap, Tre Chaffier and Quincy Jackson made a stop in the end zone for a Belhaven safety.

Through seven games, Norris leads NCAA Division III with a 46.3-yard punting average. He also leads the USA South with 13 punts of 50 yards or more and five touchbacks.

Norris is the first Belhaven punter named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and the first Blazer selected since Dee Gray last season.
