DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - The Belhaven University men's golf team wrapped up two days of competition at the West Pines Collegiate against a deep NCAA Division III field on Monday and Tuesday.
Belhaven finished the tournament with a 3.49 scoring average on Par 3s and tied for 20th overall on Par 4s with a 4.68 average. The team posted a 5.23 average on Par 5s, highlighted by several key scoring stretches across the two rounds.
Andrew Scherer (Wauseon, OH.) and John McIntosh (Bernice, LA.) each finished tied for 88th with a +21. Scherer finished the day strong with a three-over 74.
Gannon Williams (New Braunfels, TX.) delivered one of the tournament's bright spots for Belhaven, recording an eagle on a par 5 during the opening round. Williams added steady play throughout the week with a 3.40 average on Par 3s and a 5.50 mark on Par 5s.
Andrew Rogers (Orlando, FL) turned in a consistent performance, averaging 3.47 on Par 3s and 4.59 on Par 4s, while Jordyn Raymond (Downers Grove, Ill.) added a strong contribution on Par 5s, posting a 5.25 average for the tournament. Both players helped anchor Belhaven's team scoring across the two-day event.
The Blazers will look to build on this performance as they continue their fall schedule later this month. The team heads to Rome, GA. for the Chick-Fil-A Invitational from Oct. 20-21.
