Belhaven Trio Earns USA South Weekly Football Honors

JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven Football earned three USA South Conference weekly honors this week, with wide receiver Wyatt Locastro, defensive back Dee Gray, and kicker Lyndell Boatman all earning Player of the Week honors following the Blazers' thrilling 23-20 overtime win against Brevard on Saturday at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

Offensive Player of the Week - Wyatt Locastro

Junior wide receiver Wyatt Locastro (Memphis, Tenn.) was named USA South Football Offensive Player of the Week after delivering a career performance that fueled the Blazers' comeback. Locastro hauled in three receptions for a career-high 128 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the second half to spark Belhaven's rally from a 14-point deficit.

His first touchdown came on a 21-yard strike in the third quarter, cutting the margin to one score. In the fourth quarter, Locastro broke free down the right sideline for a 53-yard touchdown catch, giving Belhaven its first lead since the opening period. His two scores were the only trips to the end zone for the Blazers' offense in the second half and proved pivotal in the eventual overtime win.

Defensive Player of the Week - Dee Gray

Senior defensive back Dee Gray (Enterprise, Miss.) earned USA South Football Defensive Player of the Week honors after anchoring a resilient Belhaven defense. Gray racked up career-best 11 total tackles - including eight solo stops - and broke up three passes.

His biggest moment came in overtime, when he intercepted a pass on Brevard's opening possession to keep the visitors off the scoreboard and set up Belhaven's game-winning drive.

Special Teams Player of the Week - Lyndell Boatman

Junior kicker Lyndell Boatman (Eupora, Miss.) was named USA South Football Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on three field goals - from 28, 23, and 18 yards - and made both of his extra-point attempts.

His final kick came in overtime, an 18-yard game-winner that capped Belhaven's comeback and delivered the program's first conference win of the season in dramatic fashion.
