ROME, Ga. - Belhaven senior linebacker
Wyatt Beck has been named the 2025 USA South Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the third Blazer in the past four seasons to earn the league's top defensive honor. Beck also collected First Team All-Conference recognition for the third straight year following one of the most complete defensive seasons in the conference.
Beck led the USA South for a second consecutive year with 85 total tackles, pairing 36 solo stops with a league-best 49 assisted tackles to anchor a Belhaven defense that produced 662 total tackles, 23 sacks, and 10 interceptions as a team. He added 8.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and six quarterback hurries.
In conference play, Beck elevated his production even further. He ranked third in the league with 57 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss, as Belhaven opened USA South play with five straight wins and allowed just 68 third-quarter points across the season. His consistency and range helped Belhaven finish with one of the league's top defensive units against the pass, holding opponents to 6.41 yards per attempt and only 17 passing touchdowns across 10 games.
This year marks Beck's third consecutive First Team All-Conference honor. Across his career, he developed into one of the most productive defenders in program history, closing 2025 as Belhaven's team leader in tackles and second on the team in quarterback hurries.
