Wyatt Beck Named Belhaven's 2025 C Spire Conerly Trophy Nominee

JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven senior linebacker Wyatt Beck has been selected as the University's nominee for the 2025 C Spire Conerly Trophy, which honors the top college football player in Mississippi each season.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the award, presented annually by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Each four-year college and university in the state may nominate one player. Beck joins a group of nine standouts representing every level of Mississippi college football.

Beck, (Baton Rouge, La.) has been one of the elite defensive players in the state. He led the USA South in tackles in back-to-back seasons with 89 tackles last season and 85 tackles this season. Beck became the first player in over 10 years to lead the conference in tackles in consecutive seasons. He earned USA South First Team honors in both 2023 and 2024 and closed his Blazer career with 233 total tackles.

The complete list of nominees includes representatives from Alcorn State, Delta State, Jackson State, Millsaps, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, and Belhaven.

The nominees for the 2025 C Spire Conerly Trophy are:

  • Alcorn State University – Jacorian Sewell (Running Back, Natchez, MS, Graduate Student)
  • Belhaven University – Wyatt Beck (Linebacker, Baton Rouge, LA, Senior)
  • Delta State University – William Carter IV (Linebacker, Birmingham, AL, Senior)
  • Jackson State University – JaCobian Morgan (Quarterback, Canton, MS, Graduate Student)
  • Millsaps College – Grant Bizjack (Quarterback, Trophy Club, TX, Freshman)
  • Mississippi State University – Brenen Thompson (Wide Receiver, Spearman, TX, Senior)
  • Mississippi Valley State University – Josh Brown (Quarterback, Bainbridge, GA, Junior)
  • University of Mississippi – Trinidad Chambliss (Quarterback, Grand Rapids, MI, Senior)
  • University of Southern Mississippi – Braylon Braxton (Quarterback, Frisco, TX, Redshirt Senior)
This year's ceremony will also feature two new honors, the SWAC Impact Award and the Division II/III Excellence Award. The Hall of Fame will also present the 13th annual Hull Trophy, recognizing the state's top offensive lineman.

The 30th Annual C Spire Conerly Trophy presentation is set for Tuesday, December 2nd, at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Jackson. The event will include a reception and a special program celebrating the history of the award. Ticket information is available at msfame.com.
