Atlanta, Ga. - Following a record-setting performance to close out the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) regular season, Belhaven Women's Soccer players
Emma Antonoplos and
Alyssa Wilson have been recognized with weekly conference honors. Antonoplos was named the CCS Offensive Player of the Week, while Wilson earned Rookie of the Week accolades after leading the Blazers to a decisive 9-0 victory over Agnes Scott on Friday.
Antonoplos, a senior midfielder from Jacksonville, Florida, was unstoppable in the Blazers' home finale, tallying four goals to record her second hat trick of the season and match a career-high. She found the back of the net twice in the first nine minutes of play and added another before halftime, then capped her afternoon with a penalty kick early in the second half. She became the first Blazer ever with multiple hat tricks in a season.
Wilson, a freshman fullback from Greenwell Springs, La., played a major role on both ends of the pitch. She scored her second career goal in the 16th minute off an assist from
Micah Benson, helping Belhaven build an early 5-0 advantage. Defensively, Wilson anchored a back line that held Agnes Scott without a single shot or corner kick, contributing to the Blazers' third shutout in their last five matches.
Together, the duo helped Belhaven complete the CCS regular season with an 11-4-3 overall record and a 6-1-1 mark in conference play, one of the strongest conference records in program history.
Belhaven will conclude its regular season schedule today, hosting Hendrix College at 4:30 p.m. at Belhaven Bowl Stadium before beginning postseason play in the CCS Tournament later this week.
